This was an intriguing story about a female magician at the turn of the century. I enjoyed how the POV of each chapter moved from one of the main characters to the other, and back again. It gave the story true depth. Also, the subplot characters took on a life of their own, which made the story even more interesting.
Several times, I was surprised at a hook moving in a direction I couldn't predict... and the ending surprised me, as well.
I'd highly recommend it.
